Morels taste very different from other mushrooms. It really stands out from other mushrooms and offers a unique palette of flavors!

What does morel actually taste like? It tastes like meat juice and nuts (hazelnut, almond…). It has a slightly smoky flavor reminiscent of bacon. However, its taste is very delicate and not always easy to interpret.

Why does morel taste so good?
Morels contain several molecules that give them their delicious flavor. These include Inosinate and Guanylate, which reinforce the “umami” flavor.

The umami flavor is the 5th flavor along with sweet, sour, salty and bitter. It is this flavor that makes a food addictive.
