Best Before Date Product Policy
At French Deli, we’re committed to quality, transparency, and following Australian food laws. That’s why we want you to feel confident when purchasing products from us — even if they’re past their best before date.
🛒 What Does “Best Before” Mean?
Products marked with a best before date are perfectly safe to eat after that date — as long as they’ve been stored properly and the packaging is intact.
A best before date refers to quality, not safety. It means the product is at its peak freshness before that date, but is still safe to consume afterward.
This is very different from a use by date. Products past their use by date should not be eaten or sold, but we never offer those for sale.
✅ Our Promise to You
When you see a product on our shelves that’s past its best before date, you can trust that:
-
It still tastes good and is safe to consume.
-
It’s clearly labelled, so you know exactly what you’re buying.
-
It’s legal to sell under Australian food laws.
We’ll always be upfront with you, and we’re happy to answer any questions you have about best before dates and food safety.
💡 Why We Do This
Selling best before products helps reduce food waste and gives you the opportunity to grab quality items at a great price — without compromising your health or safety.
