SUMMARY

Imagery to discover La France book from all angles!

What is France?

A chapter to learn to situate France in Europe and in the world; discover its population and its language; understand the symbols of the nation, rights and duties, political organization, elections, government; but also explore the tourist riches, know-how, culture, gastronomy…

France from north to south

In this chapter, we present the different regions of mainland France and overseas: north of the Loire, the North-West and the North-East; south of the Loire, the South-East and the South-West; Overseas: Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana, Réunion and Mayotte, New Caledonia and French Polynesia, the Southern and Antarctic Lands.

Towns

In this chapter, we present the capital of France and its main monuments. But also the two other largest cities in France: Marseille and Lyon, as well as several medium-sized cities in the north and south of France with their main centers of interest.

Some pages of French history

By immersing themselves in large living scenes, the child explores some of the highlights of French history. He discovers what a village looked like in the time of Roman Gaul; he observes life in a fortified castle in the Middle Ages; he witnesses a scene of life at the court of King Louis XIV, the Sun King. He saw the main moments of the Revolution; he discovers life in a trench during the First World War; finally, he compares life in France in the time of his grandparents and today.

Reference pages

In the reference pages located at the end of the work, the child can complete his knowledge. He will find the geographical division into Regions and departments, a short chronology of the history of France. A gallery of famous people and finally a jumble of souvenirs, objects and delicacies emblematic of France.

A child-sized book

The simple and dynamic illustrations, in large scenes or in vignettes, invite the child to explore the image to identify new details and new information each time. On each double page, the question asked in the banner, linked to the main theme, challenges the child’s curiosity. Where does the French flag come from? What is the Isle of Beauty? Where do we speak Creole? Who was Vercingétorix?… The question, treated with humor and dynamism in three vignettes and three short paragraphs, makes the link with the child’s world. A real educational bonus! At the end of each chapter, a double page self-evaluation allows you to enhance the child’s analysis and learning.
