Discover the Traditional Vendée white bean, named Mogettes. They are a type of white bean native to the Vendée region of France, particularly popular in the town of Luçon. These beans are a variety of the common white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and are known for their creamy texture and mild flavor.

The mogette of Vendée, the “mojhette”, is a tender white bean carefully brought back to the 16th century of South America by sailors who offered it to Pope Clement VII. Monks, in charge of studying the optimal conditions for its acclimatization, discovered in the Marais Poitevin the environment conducive to its cultivation. Carefully sorted, mogettes are soaked, drained, rinsed, then blanched and sorted again. They perfectly accompany the Vendée ham.
