Preparation of the Carte Noire coffee ground roasted beans

1. Using a Drip Coffee Maker:
  • Measure: Use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 ounces of water. Adjust according to your taste preference.
  • Brew: Place the grounds in the filter basket, add water to the reservoir, and start the machine. Wait for the brewing cycle to complete.
2. Using a French Press:
  • Measure: Use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 ounces of water.
  • Boil Water: Heat water to about 200°F (93°C), just off the boil.
  • Brew: Add the coffee grounds to the French press. Pour in the hot water, stir gently, and place the lid on with the plunger pulled up. Let it steep for 4 minutes.
  • Press: Slowly press the plunger down and pour your coffee.
3. Using an Espresso Machine:
  • Measure: Use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of grounds for a single shot.
  • Prepare: Fill the portafilter with grounds, tamp them down evenly, and lock the portafilter into the machine.
  • Brew: Start the machine and let it extract the espresso. It should take about 25-30 seconds for a good shot.
4. Using a Pour-Over:
  • Measure: Use about 1 to 2 tablespoons of grounds per 6 ounces of water.
  • Prepare: Place a filter in the dripper and rinse it with hot water. Add the coffee grounds to the filter.
  • Brew: Pour hot water over the grounds in a slow, circular motion to saturate them evenly. Continue pouring until you reach the desired amount of coffee.
5. Using a Cold Brew Method:
    • Measure: Use a ratio of about 1 cup of coffee grounds to 4 cups of cold water.
    • Combine: Mix the grounds and water in a large jar or pitcher. Stir well.
    • Steep: Let it steep in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours.
    • Strain: After steeping, strain the coffee through a fine mesh sieve or a coffee filter to remove the grounds.

Conservation

  • Freshness: For the best flavor, grind the beans just before brewing if possible, though pre-ground coffee can still be quite good.
  • Storage: Store your coffee grounds in an airtight container in a cool, dark place to keep them fresh
